To protest or not to protest

The thing about a protest march is that it makes you feel political and involved and proud that you are fighting for change. Maybe a little smug too.

But there are other benefits and I feel I should share them with you.

It’s great exercise
A good excuse to get a suntan
And show off your new sunglasses
To sing out loud
Dance
Learn how to toyi-toyi
And make new friends
Wear in your walking shoes
And fedora
Share snacks with strangers
And stories
Take great photographs
Enjoy the coffee afterwards

And mostly, meet men. Single men. Interesting men. Liberal men. Political men. Men concerned about the future.

Men.

I have a date tonight with Sam whose protest banner read ‘I only came for the orgy.’

He may not be the right man for me.

But at least we have similar political interests.
